UPSC Advt 4/2016: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has Invited Online Applications for the recruitment of 208 Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) in Group A vacancies through Combined GEO-Scientist & Geologist Examination 2016. UPSC Advt 4/2016 Vacancy Details:

Total Number of the Post: 112

Name of the Exam: Combined GEO-Scientist & Geologist Examination 2016

Name and Number of the Post:

  1. Geologist Group A: 121 posts
  2. Geophysicist Group A: 56 posts
  3. Chemist Group A: 29 posts
  4. Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) Group A: 02 posts

Age Limit: Candidates should be between 21 to 32 years for the post of Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist and 21 to 35 years for the post of Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B). Age relaxation is applicable up to 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for OBC and 10 years for PWD candidates as per GOI. rules.

Educational Qualification:

For Geologists : Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geo sciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a University.

For Geophysicists : M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) Or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a University.

For Chemists : M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 i.e. recognized University.

For Junior Hydrogeologists : Master’s degree in Geology OR Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India OR other educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 OR Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University.

Application Fee: Candidates have to pay Rs. 200/- either by depositing the money in any branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of the SBI or by using visa/master credit/debit card. SC/ST/PH /Female candidates are exempted from payment of fee.

Selection Procedure:

Candidates will be selected based on written test and interview.
